Fairhaven MA is a seaside community and its rich history of whaling and fishing has shaped the maritime industry, as we know it today. There are outfitters and boat yards that can support any size ocean vessel. You will notice Fairhaven's waterfront is active and has a vibrant economy supported by diverse businesses and services. Commercial growth continues along Fairhaven's central Route 6. Residents are served by a number of restaurants, grocery stores, and department stores and there are recreational opportunities for every interest.
The Town of Fairhaven was incorporated on February 22, 1812. The annual 'can't miss' celebrations are special memories for area families. These events include June's Homecoming Day Fair, Fort Phoenix Weekend Encampment and December's Old-Time Holiday Weekend is my favorite.
Must see is the towns center with architectural masterpieces donated by Henry Huttleston Rogers of Standard Oil Company. Walking the tree-lined sidewalks reminds me of yesteryear and the town center is unspoiled by development.
The Fairhaven MA town center historic buildings are constructed of stone with breath taking carvings and intricate designs.
Henry Huttleston Rogers donated to Fairhaven the Millicent Library, Fairhaven High School, Fairhaven Town Hall and the Unitarian Memorial Church.
Fairhaven Millicent Library hosts year-round events for town residents of all ages, and Fairhaven has several active community organizations. This town has always been one of my personal favorite places. There is a sense of community that rivals any other that I've experienced. Fairhaven residents will warmly welcome you!
