Acushnet MA Real Estate is a close-knit bedroom community where residents enjoy a retreat like atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of near by urban areas. What you will notice are the wide open spaces and quiet side streets in Acushnet.
The Town of Acushnet, MA was first settled in 1659 being relied on for rich farmland and around the 1800's the town's rivers were a source for water powered lumber mills. One particular river named the Acushnet River, is where the famous Acushnet Company, maker of Titleist golf balls and other products began manufacturing operations. Various types of industry have been developed all throughout the town.
Along Acushnet's main street you will find mom and pop stores. Within these unique shops is where patrons are greeted with a hearty welcome that New Englanders are known for. The Acushnet restaurants are where you will find traditional home style meals being served. Chef specialties are delicious delicacies from the local harvest of both land and sea.
The town's growth in the residential area is of single family homes constructed in traditional New England styles. There are available homes for sale with lots that come in a wide range of square foot sizes and some homes for sale having acreage. Newer constructed family friendly neighborhoods are blended in with existing homes.
As you approach the center of town you can't help notice the Acushnet scenery goes from rural, woods and fields to a historic country setting with residents talking on tree-lined sidewalks. To me this town feels like the kind of place where everyone knows you. They care about each other and look out for their neighbors.
One of my favorite September Acushnet MA activities is the annual Apple Peach Festival, which promotes local farms and orchards by featuring: apples, peaches, pies, ciders, cobblers and fun country entertainment. The musicians on stage compliment a wide-range of activities that your entire family can participate in. This community social event brings together people throughout the area. People travel from far across the globe coming home to Acushnet they always find friends that they haven't seen in years. Something you will want to do while you are at the festival is make your way over to the booths, where there are crafters and other local artists selling the type items that some people have been known to pass down generation-to-generation. Must see is the Miss Apple Peach Pageant, which is the official opening event of the festival.
